Our Process

IYT’s approach to adolescent care begins with a commitment to the trust families place in us and the responsibility that comes with it. We show up in a way that supports, safeguards, and genuinely benefits the adolescents in our care.

The Summit Transport Model is built on the understanding that transport into behavioral health treatment should meet the same clinical and ethical standards as treatment itself.

It is a structured, therapeutic process grounded in thoughtful planning, honest communication, and clinical insight that helps clients arrive calmer, more emotionally secure, and better positioned to integrate into the next step of care.

STEP 1: Speak with an Assessment Coordinator

Once initial contact is made, a direct line of communication is established and remains accessible by call, email, or text throughout the entire process. A detailed background is taken, along with a clear summary of the client’s needs. Based on the transport details, a comprehensive, time and cost-specific itinerary is prepared, at no cost, reflecting the full scope of the transport.

Throughout this process, our team is here to support your family, who often carry the weight of the stress. We are here to relieve these stressors, take it one step at a time, and be partners you can rely on.

STEP 2: Clinical Review and Planning

A licensed therapist reviews the case and develops a personalized transport plan. This is provided at no cost and includes a time and cost-specific itinerary that reflects the full scope of the transport. Once retained, we handle every step of the process, organizing travel, coordinating with providers, and managing every element of the plan. IYT therapists remain available to support all family members throughout the process.

STEP 3: Connect with the Transport Team

The day before the transport, the lead team member connects with the family to walk through the Transport Plan once again and address any final questions or concerns. All transports are staffed with a minimum of two team members and are gender-specific to meet the client’s needs.

IYT is trusted by providers and families nationwide to take on the most complex and high-acuity cases and handle them with professionalism. This includes situations that are highly volatile or where previous attempts have failed. These cases require clinically informed judgment, emotional steadiness, and precision.

Our transport team's foundation is their personal connection to the work and their years of experience, many having been with IYT since its inception. They are held to the highest clinical standards in the field and are trained and certified in trauma-informed care, evidence-based intervention models, de-escalation techniques, and much more.

We believe that a client's transport is more than just a ride. It is a therapeutic window, a structured opportunity to create calm, build trust, and help clients take their first real step toward change.

STEP 4: Transport & Transition

Every transport plan is shaped by the individual’s clinical profile, emotional state, and logistical needs. The team is briefed in detail ahead of time to ensure alignment with the client’s background and treatment goals. Once transport begins, families receive updates throughout the journey, and referring professionals are kept informed as needed. Safety is a priority, and at no time is the client without at least one team member present.

Transport is approached as a relational process. The team works to build trust and create a calm environment that supports the client emotionally as well as physically. These early connections often shape how a client engages with the care that follows.

The way transport is handled matters. Whether a case is straightforward or high-acuity, families and professionals count on IYT to deliver clinical alignment, measured support, and care that lasts beyond the trip.
